BMW PGA Championship promises great golf !

The European Tour is in England for the first time this season from Thursday 26th May to Sunday 29th May 2016 on the West Course at Wentworth and promises to be a great spectacle of golf with the BMW PGA Championship.
The Pro-Am took place on Wednesday and featured sports stars and entertainers and was jointly won by two teams on -16, the Sky team with Paul Lawrie, David Randall, Rik Dovey and Matt Le Tissier and the TPF team with John Daly, Paul Williams, Tony Simpson and Chris Goddard.
The BMW PGA Championship field consists of 150 players from 25 countries including the current Masters champion, 6 Majors champions, 3 World Number Ones, 100 European Tour Winners, 22 Ryder Cup Players, 6 past winners of the BMW PGA Championship and 21 Rookies.
Byeong Hun An, defending champion, said about this 2015 win “It was definitely life-changing. It got me into a lot of events and boosted my confidence that I could compete”. He tees off with Shane Lowry and Francesco Molinari, who shared the lead with him after 54 holes last year.
Masters Champion Danny Willett launches his bid to with French Ryder Cup player Victor Dubuisson and Soomin Lee of Korea at 12:40 on Thursday.
Lee Westwood, runner-up here twice, is looking for third time lucky and starts his challenge with Denmark’s Soren Kjeldsen and Korea’s Jeunghun Wang.
Martin Kaymer, Andy Sullivan and Andrew Johnson tee off at 08:15. Luke Donald is aiming for his third win at Wentworth, after success in 2011 and 2012, and is paired up with Bernd Wiesberger and Chris Wood.
Scotland’s Russell Knox is eager to boost his Ryder Cup prospects with a strong showing at this week and after winning the WGC-HSBC Champions at the end of 2015, and three runner-up finishes since said “After I won in China, it was realistic to make the team.”
So all in all an excellent field with a great four days of golf to look forward to.
